CODE OF ETHICS

Confidentiality and Code of Ethics

Adhering to the Code of Ethics all discussions between the client and the counsellor, personal details and clinical notes are kept strictly confidential.

The only exceptions would be in the following circumstances:

  • If the client’s safety or the safety of others is at risk
  • If the client’s information is requested for legal purposes
  • All professional counsellors are required to undertake professional clinical supervision with independent supervisors who are bound by confidentiality. At these sessions, client cases are dealt with anonymously.

As a provisional member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), I subscribe to abide by the NZAC Code of Ethics.
